Vice Does Goodwill

A project in collaboration with Vice and Goodwill. Selected and 1 of 10 designers asked to reimagine, reuse and repurpose old merch with total creative freedom and what resulted was this quilt. All proceeds from the sale of this collection will go to the Goodwill Southern California Jobs Accelerator Fund, assisting those most impacted by the COVID-19 unemployment crisis with job training, placement, and additional supportive services.

This colorful quilt highlights Goodwill’s Jobs Accelerator Fund which focuses on the core of the #DoGoodwill campaign. What began as a literal blank canvas of deadstock white t-shirts, is transformed to represent a bright, bold and unique future for everyone. One side features varying stripes, each color representing those who benefit most from this fund – Youth, Homeless, People with disabilities, Formerly Incarcerated and Veterans. The 6th color is representation of Goodwill’s initiative that weaves it all together. The reverse side amplifies sustainability with the use of natural dye, made from avocado pits and skins.

A quilt provides a sense of security, much like the nurturing of individual interests and needs. There are many parallels in quilting and in the Jobs Accelerator Fund initiative, including that together and with all our gifts, we can make the world a better place for all.
